Welland Medical Visit Iran

On the evening of 3rd September, Lindsey Richmond, a Product Specialist at CliniMed and a Qualified Stoma Nurse, and I travelled to Iran to visit our distributor. RAD Company launched Welland Medical products in the first quarter of 2015 and this was a great opportunity for a delegation from Welland Medical to visit. It was the very first time that anyone from Welland Medical had travelled to Iran flying on only the second direct British Airways flight from Heathrow Airport to Tehran.

On the first day of our stay we visited two of the biggest hospitals in Tehran to meet stoma patients in clinics who were being treated by nurses employed by RAD.

On the next day, we were invited to attend presentations being made by Iranian nurses on stoma care at the Centre for Nursing Care Research at the Iran University of Medical Sciences in Tehran. This was followed by an evening ceremony in the city centre to which over 50 surgeons and nurses were invited to attend. RAD’s Managing Director, Mr Hamid Shakoori, gave a pre-dinner presentation about his company and I also presented on Welland Medical and its relatively new relationship with RAD.

On day three we attended the second day of the stoma care programme organized by RAD at the University of Medical Sciences in Tehran. Lindsey gave 3 presentations on different aspects of stoma care and answered questions from over 80 nurses and surgeons who attended. In the afternoon, together with key RAD delegates, we flew to Shiraz to meet one of RAD’s largest sub-distributors, Dena Medical.

We look forward to continuing supporting RAD and hope to visit again soon.
