Main Duties and Responsibilities
As a Lead Engineer, your main responsibilities and duties will include:
- Ensure full compliance with the Company’s Health and Safety policies at all times, actively promoting a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and adherence to
established quality standards and procedures. - Take full ownership of assigned tasks, demonstrating initiative and accountability while continuously identifying and implementing more efficient and effective working methods.
- Maintain responsibility for safe working practices during shifts, including the correct application and monitoring of permit-to-work systems to ensure all activities are carried out safely and in accordance with regulations.
- Oversee the effective use and completion of the maintenance management system, regularly reviewing performance data to assess and improve equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
- Analyse manufacturing performance data, ensuring the Engineering Team remains focused on key priorities and critical issues that directly impact the achievement of company KPIs.
- Support the ongoing training and development of the Engineering Team, ensuring skill levels are continuously enhanced to deliver a high standard of technical support and operational excellence.
- Ensure the consistent availability of high-quality tooling and spare parts during shifts, proactively managing resources to minimise downtime and maintain productivity.
- Provide clear, concise, and accurate information during shift handovers to ensure seamless communication and continuity of operations.
- Take responsibility for addressing key manufacturing issues during shifts, delivering clear communication on actions taken, progress updates, and current status to relevant stakeholders.
- Promote and embed key Lean principles within the department, driving a culture of continuous improvement, waste reduction, and adherence to 5S standards to enhance operational efficiency.
People Management
- Lead and manage the team in line with Company policies and procedures, working in partnership with HR to ensure best practice in areas such as absence management and employee relations.
- Support the ongoing development of team members through regular one-to-one meetings, providing constructive feedback on performance and ensuring completion of the Performance Development Review (PDR) process.
- Collaborate with HR to identify and address training needs, ensuring continuous professional development and the enhancement of team capability.
- Inspire, engage, and motivate team members to achieve both individual and team objectives, fostering a positive, high-performance working environment aligned with company goals.
