Main Duties and Responsibilities
As an Operations Finance Business Partner , your main responsibilities and duties will include:
- For operations, the role ensures that product costs and margins are accurate (labour and materials), provides support to deliver operational KPIs, analysis of the financial benefits associated with improvement projects and understands labour requirements to fulfil customer orders.
- For the technical team the role provides cost/benefit analysis to support CAPEX submissions working with cross functional teams to collate, analyse and summarise all financial data.
- For R&D, the role is responsible for evaluating the commercial viability of product development, appraising cost re-engineering and supporting calculation of R&D tax credits.
Operations Teams
- Provide insight and analysis of all operational costs and variances to target across manufacturing and supply chain, including labour costs, materials costs, processes and efficiencies. Support the development of performance metrics and cost information for the operations teams including but not limited to materials usage, machine throughput, waste and labour productivity.
- Provide financial support to deliver and track the benefits of operational CI project initiatives.
- Own product costing from a financial standpoint (BOMs and standards) and support with accurate (materials and labour) information so that the company standard costing system works effectively including overhead allocations
- Maximise opportunities for improvement in quality, efficiencies and cost, providing actionable insights.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement across the teams.
- To review direct labour and operational overhead related metrics through scenario planning and business modelling, evaluating the impact on the business
- Ensure stock movements within the ERP system reflect materials usage and costings correctly.
Technical & R&D Teams
- Working with the Technical team, develop and own the financial business cases for Capex investment, ensuring robust financial evaluation and alignment with business strategy.
- Track Capex spend against approved budgets, highlighting risks, variances and opportunities for value creation.
- Collaborate and support project managers to develop greater financial awareness of a project, enabling enhanced decision making.
- With the R&D team, model the financial cost of trials and development, ensuring accurate cost is captured and communicated to key stakeholders
- Support the preparation of data for R&D tax credits
Budget
- Support, coordinate and challenge operational, R&D and technical budget submissions, working with budget holders to provide accurate departmental budgets and meaningful analysis
Team Leadership
- Manage and mentor the data analyst.
Project work, as necessary and agreed with Finance Director
- To assist the Finance Director in any other duties required
