One of our chosen local charities to support is St Catherine’s Hospice. For several years, we’ve sponsored this fantastic organisation, and our collaboration reached a new milestone as we were honoured to be invited to the pre-opening event of their new home in Pease Pottage, Crawley.

A Milestone Celebration: Pre-Opening Event at Pease Pottage

The pre-opening event was a special occasion, where Giles Tomsett, CEO of St Catherine’s Hospice, gave a strong speech emphasising the great work the hospice carries out and the urgent need to maintain funds to keep their important work going. The event also included an exciting guided tour of the new hospice’s modern facilities, rooms, and beautiful grounds, with insight into how these features will make a positive difference to those living with a terminal illness.

Commitment to Care: St Catherine’s Hospice’s Four Decades of Service

St Catherine’s Hospice has been providing expert hospice care for four decades, caring for around 2,100 individuals facing life-limiting illnesses each year. Their new 24-bed hospice, equipped with modern facilities, shows their commitment to reaching more people in need. The expansion allows them to provide essential community services and support to families who are often left behind.

Impact on the Local Community

The impact of St Catherine’s Hospice on the local community is significant. They offer expert hospice care to patients in their homes, at their Day Hospice, and on their wards. Their dedicated teams provide personalised support, whether it’s a comforting bath, a favourite meal, or pain management. Beyond physical care, they also provide emotional, spiritual, and welfare support to those affected by death and bereavement.

As part of their holistic approach to care, St Catherine’s Hospice focuses on wellbeing, emphasising the importance of individualised support. Their new wellbeing centre, a dedicated space in the new hospice, fits perfectly with our values at Welland Medical. We deeply believe in the importance of wellbeing, and we’re thrilled that St Catherine’s now has the space to enhance their focus on this crucial aspect of care.
